WWE SummerSlam Predictions!!!!

Well it's that time again.  Justin and Dan, the two wrestling prognosticators, will attempt to tell you guys what's gonna happen this Sunday at SummerSlam.

Currently Justin leads Dan 27-24 in the 2014 WWE Predictions Sweepstakes.

On paper this SummerSlam looks pretty good.  Not the most stacked lineup they've ever had but there are multiple potential show-stealers.  Of course everything would be much better if the planned main event of Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar were happening, goddammit.

---I must interject here. I believe the featured main event is a spectacular sports entertainment big money match. The biggest star in the last decade against the biggest monster the WWE has today. Awesome stuff.  -DNM3

---Pipe down over there Daniel!  -JJB1

I-C Title Match: The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler - This one should be good.  Both these guys can go and it's nice to see them finally being used in a meaningful way.  Miz has finally found himself again, as the arrogant douche who fancies himself a major Hollywood star.  Ziggles has been one of my faves for several years now and is still very over, so it's about freakin' time he gets a big PPV match again.

Justin's pick: Miz just won this belt, so clearly he's not dropping it yet.
Dan's pick: I must agree. I love this version of the Miz. Ziggles is also great, but his character is growing stagnant as I don’t even really know what he’s doing anymore. Miz FTW

Divas Title Match: AJ vs. Paige - These two failed to get it done last month at BattleGround but I still think there's a damn good women's match in them.  Turning Paige heel was a good start - she's much better in this role.

Justin's pick: I'll go with AJ to retain here but Paige will need some kind of post-match attack to continue the feud.
Dan's pick: Yea, AJ. Whatever.

Flag Match: Rusev vs. Jack Swagger - Their BattleGround match was decent but had a less than satisfying ending.  This one should presumably be the blowoff match.

Justin's pick:  Gotta stick with the Russkie, as he's the one whose push this feud was built around.  Rusev moves up the card to take on an upper-midcard babyface (Sheamus perhaps?) while Swagger can now be an I-C contender.
Dan's pick: I still gotta go with my American man here. Someone’s gotta beat this dope.

Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt - Yet another rematch from BattleGround, where the first encounter was less than stellar.  I think both guys will put their working boots on to deliver something worthy of their respective resumes.  The promo work has been good but there's been something missing from this feud.  I'm hoping a 3.5+-star match is the missing ingredient.

Justin's pick:  Obviously Bray has to win, since Jericho's leaving soon to go back to touring with Fozzy.
Dan's pick: Has to be Bray this time. The promo on Raw set the stage beautifully for this one and hopefully this will blow away the previous, mediocre encounter at BattleGround.

Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella - Look, I have zero emotional investment in this feud, and I don't have very high hopes for the match quality.  But I gotta say Stephanie's mic work has been stupendous.  If you had told me in 2002 that Stephanie McMahon would go on to be one of the best talkers in the company, I'd have punched you right in the mouth.  Brie is sadly another story, but she can go in the ring.  This added wrinkle of Daniel Bryan's alleged affair is pretty silly and I dunno if Bryan will actually show up on Sunday, but I imagine this angle has to affect the match somehow.  There's also talk of Nikki turning on Brie, which is pretty dumb.

Justin's pick:  I imagine Stephanie wins due to either Nikki screwing her, or Bryan's "mistress" getting involved.
Dan's pick:  Million Dollar Princess wins by nefarious means.

Lumberjack Match: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose - FINALLY we get to see this.  I was more than a little annoyed last month when their planned match was thrown out.  This one should be pretty awesome (though the Lumberjack stip is kinda silly).  Ambrose is all kinds of over and I honestly see more main event potential for him right now than for any of the former Shield members.

Justin's pick: I think Ambrose finally gets a win over his estranged pal.
Dan's pick: Rollins will win this one with a little help from his friends on the outside. By the way, I hate Lumberjack Matches. Dumb.

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton - House show reviews of this match were pretty poor, but let's hope they find their chemistry.  Reigns still has a long way to go as a main event-caliber player, but Orton is more than capable of making him look great.  Orton's beatdown of Reigns a few weeks ago was very effective in jumpstarting this feud.

Justin's pick:  This is clearly Reigns's first big singles win.
Dan's pick: The Rock’s cousin pulls off his first major singles win in a PPV setting.

WWE Championship Match: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar - If this is anywhere near as good as their Extreme Rules 2012 match, we're in for something special.  The video packages have been the balls and I wish they'd do stuff like that for every big match.  This should be just as good as, but very different from, their previous fight.

Justin's pick:  Brock Lesnar wins the Title.  The only reason to have Lesnar end Taker's streak is to build him up as an unstoppable juggernaut, so when someone finally does beat him (ahem, Reigns), it creates a major sensation.
Dan's pick:  Dude, if Lesnar loses here, it makes ZERO sense. Literally ZERO. And I mean that in the actual context of literally, not the new meaning where it means figuratively, like when Gorilla Monsoon would say "the Garden just literally exploded!”  No it didn’t, Robert, then there would be no pretend fighting for the evening. Jerk. Oh, yea, so I pick Brock.

Well there it is.  Take it or leave it.  Enjoy SummerSlam everyone!
