AEW Dynamite 5th Anniversary Preview & Predictions

And we're back with the second preview/predictions piece in a row for AEW Dynamite, as tonight's show is the company's 5th anniversary on cable TV!  Hard to believe it's been five years already, and we're only about six months away from Dynamite eclipsing WCW Nitro's run (which will be a proud day indeed).

There are four matches announced for tonight, and given how big two of them are I could actually see that being the entire lineup.  The top-billed match should be pretty epic.  I'm also hoping we get an official announcement about the new TV deal.  Lots of anti-AEW grifters will be crying in their beers.

But let's look at the matches.....

Hangman Page vs. Juice Robinson

I don't remember if The Bang Bang Gang somehow ran afoul of Hangman over the last few months or if this is just a rando match for Page to try and murder someone, but Hanger's been on fire since making it his life's mission to ruin Swerve's.  Juice will give Page a good fight but Page will claim another victim on his killing spree.

Pick: Page

Britt Baker vs. Serena Deeb

It wouldn't be right if Baker were not featured on a Dynamite emanating from Brittsburgh, so here we are.  Baker hasn't been seen since losing clean to Mercedes Mone at All In, and I'm not sure if they'll set up a rematch or what.  But she'll get a feelgood win here in her hometown.

Pick: Britt

AEW International Championship: Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet

It's finally happening again!  For the first time in eight years the two best aerial wrestlers in the world will put together a breathtaking athletic spectacle.  In 2016 Ricochet was the more established star but in 2024 Ospreay is master.  This is actually a tough match to pick; Ospreay almost never loses but Ricochet just got there and this match should probably lead to another match on PPV.  I think Ric might actually pull off the upset.

Pick: Ricochet

AEW World/Continental Championship: Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada

The rubber match is finally taking place.  Both titles are on the line but there's a caveat.  Since the Continental Title is contested under a 20-minute time limit but the World Title gets 60, the CC belt is only up for grabs in the first twenty minutes of this match.  Danielson actually has more to lose than Okada.  So obviously this is going way past twenty minutes.  I think it'll probably end in some kind of schmozz but I suppose Bryan could get the go-ahead win in this trilogy and that way both guys retain their titles.  But the match should be spectacular.

Pick: Bryan and Okada both retain

A nice lean four-match lineup where every bout is very different.  Should be a helluva show.
